Webinar series: Engaging in Corporate Climate Advocacy

Corporate climate action is on the rise, but there are still critical policy gaps and a need for clear, long-term policy direction across key areas to unlock further levers for decarbonisation and help businesses mobilise the levels of investment needed to meet their net zero targets. Companies have a collective role to play in driving more ambitious government action on climate and stand to benefit from doing so. When done right, corporate climate advocacy can serve as a key enabler through which businesses can exercise climate leadership, shape the policy agenda in line with their sustainability goals, and demonstrate to investors how they are working with governments to deliver on their net zero transition plans, as recommended by the Transition Plan Taskforce’s disclosure framework. To help businesses engage in effective, science-based climate advocacy, the UN Global Compact Network UK is hosting a four-part Engaging in Corporate Climate Advocacy webinar series, kindly supported by Clyde & Co. This series will provide practical guidance on how businesses can contribute towards driving the regulatory conditions needed to deliver on their net zero goals and will highlight leading corporate climate policy engagement practices. Sessions include: 1) Developing an Advocacy Strategy – Wednesday 17 April, 14:00-15:30 BST 2) The Role of Industry Associations – Wednesday 24 April, 14:00-15:30 BST 3) Driving Policy Change – Wednesday 15 May, 14:00-15:30 BST 4) Disclosing to Stakeholders – Wednesday 22 May, 14:00-15:30 BST
